The problem

Most independent retailers are flying blind.

The supermarkets have teams of analysts watching every line, every hour. You have a Sunday night, a pile of invoices and a gut feeling.

No real-time P&L

You find out last quarter's margin when your accountant does. By then the money has already gone.

No benchmarks

Is 9% on wages good? Is 24% on confectionery? Without a comparison, every number is a guess.

No system

Pricing, ranging, rotas and compliance all live in your head — and it's already full.

The platform

Supermarket-grade intelligence. Corner-shop simple.

Five tools, one login. 25 lessons across 8 categories. Built for UK convenience stores and forecourts — not adapted from generic business software.

Dashboard

Your P&L every Monday. Not once a year.

Export last week from your till and drop the file in. We strip VAT, sort every line into categories and surface the ones quietly costing you money.

Space & Experiments

Score every bay. Measure every change.

Space score ranks each shelf area by GP per linear metre. Retail experiments let you test a change — a new display, a repriced line — and measure whether it actually moved the numbers.

Falling profit. My alcohol sales are up but my profit is down. What's happening? This usually means one of three things: 1. Your buying price rose but your shelf price didn't. Check your last alcohol invoice against your margin report — a 3% cost increase on a 22% GP line drops you to 19% overnight. 2. Your sales mix has shifted toward beer (typically 16–18% GP) and away from spirits (22–28% GP). More volume, less money. 3. A promotional price you set for a bank holiday was never removed from the shelf. Start with your three lowest-margin alcohol lines this week. If any are below 15% GP, reprice them tomorrow morning. That single change is worth more than any volume growth.

Wage costs. How do I know if I'm paying too much for my wages? The benchmark is 8–12% of weekly sales for a typical UK convenience store. Above 14% puts serious pressure on your net profit. Divide your weekly wage bill by your weekly sales and multiply by 100. If you're over 12%, look at: • Your busiest two hours each day — are you over-staffed? • Whether your slowest day (usually Monday or Tuesday) needs a full shift • Whether any staff are on old contracts above NLW without a productivity review A 2 percentage point improvement on wages is worth more than a 2pp margin improvement on most lines. It compounds across every week.

Vape law. A customer asked if my vape display is legal. Is it? Yes — rechargeable vapes are still legal to sell and display, but with strict rules since the Vapes Act 2025: • Disposable single-use vapes: banned for sale since 1 June 2025. If you have any stock remaining, you cannot sell it. • Rechargeable vapes: legal, but packaging must not use bright colours, cartoon imagery, or flavour names designed to appeal to children. • Challenge 25 applies — any customer who looks under 25 must show ID (passport, photo driving licence, or PASS-accredited card). • Tobacco display must remain behind shuttered gantries at all times — no tobacco visible to customers. If your display passes those four tests, you're compliant.
